Huat Kuih


  • 250 g Erawan Brand Rice Flour (or Cap Gajah Blended Rice Flour)
  • 250 ml Water
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 200 g Concentrated Coconut Milk
  • Colouring (optional)
  • 8 g Fresh Yeast (a.k.a. wet/compressed yeast)


  • Mix rice flour, sugar and water. Stir well.
  • Dissolve fresh yeast in coconut milk.
  • Mix mixtures in steps 1 and 2. Stir well.
  • Place batter under sun for 2 hours.
  • Add a drop of colouring (optional) and stir well.
  • Heat empty moulds in steam.
  • Pour in batter and steam for 20 minutes.
